Paranoia was a horrible feeling to have. Dread dripped like sweat down the back of her neck and she was always looking over her shoulder, waiting for someone to come up behind her. She'd even started wielding her keys between her fingers, her knuckles holding them so tightly they'd turn white.[break][break]

Wadjet was on edge too, her gaze more intimidating and aggressive than it normally was. The only normal one in the bunch was the Castform who hovered nearby.[break][break]

Stormy had reached out to a private detective in the area. She had insisted he meet her in Oldale town for privacy sake. It would draw too much suspicion, or so she assumed, if he visited her in Lavaridge. And if she had come to him in whatever town his agency was located, someone might be watching her there too.[break][break]

Granted, it was unlikely anyone was following her as religiously as she was thinking. In fact, it was unlikely anyone was looking for her at all since Team Rocket had magically disbanded. Her fear still lingered, however, and her kidnappers face still haunted her dreams.[break][break]

"Okay, Wadjet. We're just gonna wait here. He should be here any minute."[break][break]

For a long time most of Blaine's cases were discussed and handled in Mauville town, he very rarely traveled. There wasn't any big reason for why he only worked in Mauville besides not having a way to get from town to town quickly. However now he had a flying pokemon big enough for him to ride on. Sure he had his Noctowl for awhile but it was just a little owl he couldn't ride on its back of course.[break][break]

The client he was meeting seemed a little bit paranoid with her request to meet in a different town but in his experience people who hired a detective usually had a reason to be a tad bit paranoid. So this wasn't really anything too out of the ordinary. Just in case there was some justification in her paranoia Blaine had landed on his Garchomp on the route ahead of Oldale town and walked the rest of the way there.[break][break]

Making his way into the town Blaine hit the button on the front of one of his pokeballs, releasing his Pikachu in a flash of white light. In a moment the little mouse pokemon was perched on his shoulder with a pipe in its mouth. Anytime he was on business the pikachu accompanied him so it was just kind of a reflex at this point.[break][break]

The girl had gave him a spot to meet up at before he actually got to the town so it didn't take too long until he found the presumed client. Coming right up to her he cleared his throat briefly before blurting out a quick "Detective Jones, do you have an appointment?"[break][break]

Of course when he was setting up the meeting he told her to say that she did have an appointment with him if asked. It was a decent way to verify their identities.

She jumped. She knew that she was waiting for him, and he was the only person who probably would come up to greet her, but she still jumped.[break][break]

Wadjet growled at this, turning on the man and baring her fangs. It took Stormy a moment to compose herself before she could pull Wadjet out of her protective mode. She'd glance at the Pikachu perched on his shoulder, and would breathe a sigh of relief.[break][break]

"Y-yes. I do."[break][break]

Her palms were sweaty and she patted them on her jeans, trying her best to calm her nerves and focus on what she needed from him.[break][break]

"Can we walk for a bit? I need a minute."[break][break]

She'd toss a small smile at the Pikachu in an attempt to be friendly, and would soon gesture with her chin to have him follow her around town. If the two appeared as a couple or pair of friends, they might not appear suspicious.[break][break]

Granted, they probably didn't appear suspicious in the least, it was just the poor girl's paranoia and terror causing her to assume the worst in everyone.[break][break]

Once the girl jumped as he spoke it at least confirmed something for Blaine, whatever it was that had her this paranoid was clearly something she believed was going on. This wasn't a case of someone just being overly cautious there was some actual basis behind her caution. This case was starting to get a little bit interesting.[break][break]

The charizard growling and baring its fangs did catch him off guard for a minute but he wasn't really scared of it. After all the pokemon was with the woman so it was obviously hers, there was no reason for it to attack him if he was here to help her. The pokemon was probably just protective of its owner like his Garchomp was with him.[break][break]

Once the woman smiled at the pikachu the little electric mouse decided to try to help cheer up the situation on its own, blowing into the pipe in its mouth and causing some normal bubbles to float out. The bubbles just being the kind you'd expect to see when a kid played around with a bubble wand and blew bubbles.[break][break]

"Yeah walking works for me, whatever you need, take all the time ya want." Blaine added as he slipped his hands into the pockets of his jeans. The man was wearing some regular civillian clothes, a black shirt and a pair of jeans. He had took her concerns to heart and didn't wanna show up in anything that screamed hey that guys a private investigator.[break][break]

As they started to walk Blaine chimed back in quickly with a "You can just call me Blaine by the way, don't really care for any formality things." Maybe if he tried to be a bit more personal it would cool her nerves a bit?

Stormy smiles a little brighter at the cheerful and silly natures of the man's Pikachu. It reminds her of home, and while it's a sore spot, it's also a comfort. She breathes a sigh of relief as Blaine accepts her request and falls into step next to her.[break][break]

The friendly presence of an acquaintence seems to wash away her worries, and she finds that the thickness of the air thins and she can clear her head. The feeling of the ground against her feet as she focuses on the here and now is pleasant.[break][break]

Stormy sweeps her long mane of brown hair behind her shoulders, taking another deep breath and closing her eyes. She only reopens them as Blaine speaks up again. [break][break]

"Blaine. That's a nice name."[break][break]

Another small smile, and Wadjet would rumble in the background, her soft thuds from her footsteps a constant reminder that she was still here, acting as a guardian. [break][break]

"You can call me Stormy. I don't do formalities either, I'm just Stormy."[break][break]

One hand reaches up to tug at a stray piece of hair, twirling it absently and nervously between her thumb and forefinger. For a time, she remains silent as the wind pushes past the pair of them and brings with it the smell of wildlife and fresh-cut grass.[break][break]

"We should get to the point, I don't want to keep you here longer than you probably want to, you have work to do."[break][break]

She laughs nervously, trying to push down the bubbling sensation of panic. Her gaze settles past him, as if looking for some hidden enemy.[break][break]

"I was.. I was recently kidnapped by a man named Dorian. He's affiliated with Team Rocket in some way, and he's dangerous. When I woke up, he injected me with some sort of toxin or poison to cause me to hallucinate. It was horrible, but I think it's important I help find him. He needs to be stopped."[break][break]

"Yeah I picked it out myself." Blaine blurted out in response to the woman saying it was a nice name, just a little corny joke to try to keep the mood light. Sure it was kind of unprofessional to toss out random jokes when meeting a client but with how paranoid she seemed to be he wanted to take any step he could to try to make this a more friendly environment for her. If he wanted her to trust him it was probably best to be friendly and start being a bit more casual.[break][break]

As the two walked along Blaine would occasionally glance off to their sides, not turning his head much to actually make it noticeable that he was looking around. The man had gotten used to being all covert and sneaky so this wasn't too much of a task. There were no more doubts in his mind he was going to take Stormy's case completely seriously just based on her mannerisms.[break][break]

"Its nice to meet ya Stormy, shame it couldn't be under better circumstances though." He managed to blurt out before she went ahead and got along with the details for being here. He genuinely meant those words too she seemed kind of nice so far, probably would of made a good friend. While she got into the details about what turned out to be a kidnapping the man's eyes widened for a moment before regaining his composure. This definitely was something serious.[break][break]

Listening to the woman talk Blaine ended up reaching into his back pocket and pulled out a small notebook and a pen, only to start scratching down a few notes about her case. He planned to keep the details in a more secure place but this little notebook would be good to remember some of the key details. All together he only wrote down three words so far, Dorian, Team Rocket, and dangerous. With that last word underlined, with the whole kidnapping and injecting thing this guy did seem pretty dangerous he'd need to be extra sneaky when investigating this.[break][break]

With a nod of his head Blaine tucked the notebook back into his pocket before speaking up again as she finished. "That sounds really bad I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'll make this my top priority and start looking into this right away. Oh I'll keep you updated on anything else i found out too."

Despite the unease she's feeling, Stormy laughs, genuinely laughs. It feels good to just be herself and to not have to worry or think too hard. The detective is really doing his best to make her feel safe and at ease.[break][break]

"I bet you did."[break][break]

The corner of her mouth perks a bit in a smile and she glances at him from underneath long dark eyelashes. Once again, Stormy takes a deep breath to settle her thoughts and overwhelming emotions.[break][break]

She dips her head as he finishes introducing himself, a ghost of sadness lingers on her face. [break][break]

"Maybe one day it'll be under better circumstances."[break][break]

They'd stopped walking at some point, choosing to stand still and talk things through. He took notes, eyes wide in horror, and understandably so. Stormy had been through hell, and she still sometimes felt the ghost pains of the needles, the terror-induced hallucinations, that constant feeling of being watched.[break][break]

"I'm okay. I just really want you to find more information on this guy. He needs to be stopped and put away for good. Now that Rocket is gone and he has no more orders, I'm sure that he's free. No one is controlling him anymore, and that scares me."[break][break]

She runs a hand through her hair, tugging at a knot absently while she chews her lip.[break][break]

"Don't get involved if it becomes too dangerous though. I don't need anyone else getting hurt. He's after me, not you."[break][break]

Hearing the girl laugh at his little dumb joke brought a small smile to Blaine's face, he was actually pretty glad that he was able to make her laugh while talking about a serious subject. Once she got into the details about the case he worried about the toll something like that would take and while it certainly did if she was hiring a detective. She could at least laugh still and that was something. [break][break]

A few moments after Blaine had pocketed his notebook the book was pulled right back out again, this time however by his pikachu. Although the detective didn't seem to notice this at all. The little electric rat would end up flipping to the page he had recently wrote in before getting a little tiny bit of mud on her paw and stamping her paw onto the page. Doing her best to take notes on what was going on too.[break][break]

As the notebook was slipped back into his pocket Blaine finally felt the movement and glanced back only to see the notebook already back in place and pikachu staring off into space. Raising an eyebrow for a moment he turned back to the woman. "It does sound kind of dangerous, don't worry I'll try not to get directly involved then. Once i find him I could probably just do some surveillance from afar, or something like that. I have some pokemon that help with stuff like that already so its not too much of a big deal."[break][break]

Taking a brief moment to himself Blaine reached up and scratched at the back of his neck, having already come to a decision about something that crossed his mind once he saw just how paranoid the girl was. This was something serious and dangerous that was going on, so there was no way he could try to charge her for his services. [break][break]

"Before we wrap this meeting up I did wanna mention payment real quick, basically uhh just don't worry about it alright?"

While Stormy talked, she noticed the Pikachu reach into her trainer's pocket for the notebook. Her eyebrow would quirk in amusement at the creature's interest in playing the part. But when Blaine would look at the Pikachu and not catch her in the act, Stormy would wink at the adorable Pokemon, keeping her secret.[break][break]

Even Wadjet chuckled in her own wolfish, gravelly way. Smoke spilled from her nose and she would swing her head around, feigning indifference. [break][break]

"Of course. But seriously, whatever you do, don't engage him. The man is a ticking time bomb, and he's insane. There's nothing he wouldn't do."[break][break]

She might be over-exaggerating, but her own fear fueled her. [break][break]

There was a moment of awkward hesitation between the two as if their uncomfortable and serious conversation had finally pittered away into nothing. In the meantime, she rummaged around in her purse for his payment, something they had agreed upon prior. She even had extra because she was worried about him.[break][break]

Stormy is surprised, then, when Blaine refuses it before she can even offer it.[break][break]

"What the devil are you talking about? Take the money. I don't need it, and I'm not about to send you on a dangerous task and not give you something for a compensation. Keep in touch, okay? You know where to find me."[break][break]

With that, she would firmly press the envelope into his hand, give him an awkward but friendly clap on the shoulder, and then promptly turn around and walk away. [break][break]
